The Frogs dominate the day at Tidworth

In the past this has been a 2 day match, but this year was cut to one and so an early start was made at 1100 with lunch at 1.00pm and the final 20 overs starting at 4:40pm.  The Frogs won the toss and batted first and got off to a flier with an opening stand of 156 before skipper Tom Grant trapped the batter lbw. When the other opener was stumped by Jack Bramwell off the bowling of Richard Leakey, the pace slowed markedly, only one other batsman made it to double figures, and they declared on 226 for 5. Standout bowler was Richard Leakey with 3, and Harry Flack and Tom Grant settled for one apiece.

Sadly our batting was way below par. Our two elite batsmen, Jack Bramwell and Tom Grant were both out before we had scored 20 and from then on we seemed to be in survival mode. Felix Plant stuck around for 25 before a rush of blood caused him to charge the bowler and get stumped and we closed on 89 runs for 9, with only 3 batsmen getting to double figures.  Still ‘n all, we didn’t lose !  One of their bowlers delivered 10 maidens in a spell of 12 overs and took 4 for 5 and seemed to tie down all of our guys.  But then we all had a beer, enjoyed a chat, the Frogs went on their way to Devon for their tour and the Queries went home thinking, perhaps, how they might have done things differently.
