IT'S 4 WINS ON THE TROT FOR THE QUERIES !ANOTHER VERY GOOD VICTORY
Today at Devizes a Queries XI skippered by Simon Campbell achieved an emphatic victory over the Hampshire Wayfarers CC. Chasing 278, the openers Tom Grant and Chris Downham dominated the crease and the bowling from the first ball. Their opening stand was 184 and Tom went on to score a fantastic 137. Having fielded for 51 overs, the Queries won the game in 37 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Chris Downham was run out for 45 and Vaughn Williams was 54 not out when the game was won.
THE POWER GAME AT VALLEY END
Queries won an emphatic victory at Valley End CC today. David Haywood had assembled a strong XI, despite late changes, and on the small VECC ground 300 runs, achieved in 47 overs and for 6 wickets seemed a fair and demanding score. The 31 extras notwithstanding, the Queries bowling and catching reduced VECC to 229 all out in 44 overs with James Hopton getting a 5-fer. The icing on the cake was the President's catch at 1st slip to take the 10th wicket. It was a very enjoyable day and we are grateful to VECC for their sporting hospitality and for the excellent bar-b-que after the match.
A NAIL-BITER AGAINST THE FROGS
Queries set the target of 238 on a sunny day at Devizes. Kit Patrick top scored with a marvellous 97. The first session of the Queries reply was woeful with masses of extras and the Frogs seemed destined for an easy victory. After tea skipper Nick Lind turned to Neil Clark and Tom Grant for his bowling and the wickets began to tumble. Frogs were all out in the final over of the game for 206 - Tom Grant getting 6 wickets and Neil 4.
