The Winterbourne match – 31st August

 

   

 

Joe Jenkins opened the batting with his father: [r] Archie Walker hit 49 quick runs

   

 

Barry Maggs on his way to scoring 38: on the right Charlie Palmer nicks one and gets away with it.

   
Skipper Sam Palmer came in at 11 and saw out the 35th over:  on the right the cordon is alert as Matt Janes runs in to bowl


   

 

Matt Janes bowled some pace and took 3 for 14 in 6 overs:  on the right Sam Palmer took 2 for 23 in 5 overs.

The Valley End CC match – 27th August

 

   

 

David Bromley scored  42 before being caught off the spinner:  Jeff Haywood bowled 7 overs, 2 for 27.

He is a long-standing Wiltshire Query and hopes that this fixture will be able to continue

after he has handed over.


The Frogs match – 24th August

Glamorgan Nomads match – 30th July

The
score board did not make for happy reading. After this pic was
taken, 2 wickets then fell with the score on 48. This forced
George Elliott
on the right to bat out for a draw, facing 98 balls for 47 runs before
he was out caught with the score at 145 and a draw was achieved.


Oxford Downs match – 28th July

Tom Pike again. He bowled two great spells totalling 19 overs and took 6 for 64

South Oxford Amateurs [SOA] match – 15th July

 

   

 

On
the left, Alex House, son of Tim, bowled 10 overs and took 2 for 35: on
the right, Charlie Harmer bowled 10 overs for 33 runs.

   

 

The
slip cordon is ready, Ed Borton with the gloves:  on the right,
guest Zimbabwean player Godwill Mamhiyo scored 95 not out.

   

 

Peter
Borton came in at 7 and scored 22*: and a general view of the cordon –
Tom Shaw, Phil Wise, Godwill Mamhiyo, Ed Borton and Tim House.

   

 

Tim
House hitting powerfully through the off side before injuring his
achilles and retiring for 34: meanwhile Tom Shaw nicks one,is dropped
and went on to score 56!


Canford Cygnets match – 9th July 2014

16 overs of spin from Paul Roberts [L] and Mike Swabey [R] produced no wickets and conceded 84 runs in 16 overs.

     

Charlie Harmer bowled 4 overs for 23 runs and took a wicket. On the other hand, Andrew Duckworth bowled
just 2 overs, one of which was a maiden, and took 3 wickets for 3 runs!

Jonny Nickel opened the bowling, taking 2 for 29: he was followed by Tom Pike who took 3 for 8 in just 4 overs.
   

 

Tom Pike was on a hat-trick, hence the Queries surrounding the bat: on the right the ever-dependable Brian Thompson
   

 

Peter Rigiani opened the batting, scoring an undefeated 59: for a while he was partnered by Simon Campbell
who also scored a quick fore 59.


 

It was great to see James Stevenson at the match, albeit playing for Chilmark !
